Our Work

Programmes carrying her work forward.

Six programmes translate Aidah's lifetime of service into present, measurable action — anchored in Kashangura Parish and designed to scale.

Maternal Health

Problem

Mothers in rural Kashangura still face long distances to skilled care and uneven access to antenatal services.

Approach

Train and equip community birth attendants, support antenatal visits, and maintain a clear referral pathway with Ibanda Hospital (Kagongo).

Expected outcome

Zero maternal deaths across Aidah's documented service — a benchmark we intend to extend across the parish.

Child Health

Problem

Newborn and under-five vulnerability is highest in the first 1,000 days of life.

Approach

Postnatal home visits, nutrition counselling, growth monitoring and early-warning referrals.

Expected outcome

Healthier early childhood; reduced preventable illness; stronger family confidence.

Immunisation

Problem

Vaccine hesitancy and missed schedules still leave children exposed to preventable disease.

Approach

Community education, partnership with the district EPI and door-to-door immunisation drives.

Expected outcome

Higher coverage, fewer outbreaks, and trust between families and the health system.

Youth Mentorship

Problem

Talented young women lack pathways into nursing, midwifery and allied health careers.

Approach

Mentor, sponsor and accompany youth into formal training — particularly daughters of birth attendants.

Expected outcome

A locally rooted health workforce trained where it is needed most.

Community Outreach

Problem

The furthest households are often the last to be reached by formal services.

Approach

Mobile camps, village dialogues and partnership with parish institutions and local leadership.

Expected outcome

Care that finds people in their homes — not the other way around.

Traditional Birth Attendant Recognition

Problem

The contribution of traditional birth attendants is rarely formally recognised or supported.

Approach

Identify, recognise, retrain and equip TBAs; create a continuing-education calendar; integrate them with the formal system.

Expected outcome

A respected, safer cadre that bridges community and clinic.
